Fried plantain chips

These fried plantain chips are a common snack and street food in East and West Africa, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean. They are crispy, crunchy, salty, and delectable.

They only need 3 ingredients to be prepared! They are vegetarian-friendly and gluten-free. The best part is that making it is not only simple but also inexpensive!

What differentiates a plantain from a banana?

It is required to cook plantains before eating them. Plantains differ from bananas in that they are larger and have tougher skins, but their main characteristic is that they are starchier and have less sugar than regular bananas.

Health benefits of Plantain chips

1. Vitamins A and C are found in plantain chips.

Both vitamins benefit your immune system, which helps keep you free from infection and helps maintain healthy skin. Additionally, vitamin A aids in low-light vision, and vitamin C’s antioxidant properties defend your body’s tissues from harm.

2. Minerals like phosphorous, magnesium, and iron are present in sufficient amounts in plantain chips.

Magnesium has a protective effect on the heart and aids in bone growth. 499 mg of potassium are present in 100 grams of plantains. It protects against the harmful effects of sodium while regulating blood pressure and heart rate.

3. Plantains chips contain a lot of fiber.

Consuming enough dietary fiber promotes regular bowel movements, whereas a deficiency can cause digestive issues like constipation. Additionally, fiber slows down digestion, making you feel fuller and preventing you from consuming more calories. Additionally, it might aid in the prevention of chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

4. The sodium content of plantain chips is low.

Chronic health conditions like high blood pressure, stroke, and kidney damage may result from a high-sodium diet.
The majority of people should consume no more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium daily, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and those who are at higher risk for heart disease should consume no more than 1,500 milligrams.
