10 best beaches in Uganda

Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa. Uganda’s Lake Victoria is the world’s second-largest freshwater lake, and it has some of the best beaches in Uganda.

The shores of Lake Victoria are a great place to relax, swim, and enjoy the incredible views. They are also home to many different kinds of wildlife, including hippos, and Nile crocodiles.

It’s a challenge to pick exactly which beaches are the most beautiful, but we’ve narrowed down the list from central Uganda to southwestern Uganda, and everywhere in between. Here are 10 of the best beaches in Uganda.

1. Lido Beach

Lido Beach is located approximately a kilometre away from Entebbe International Airport. This stunning spot is one of Uganda’s oldest beaches and is loved by locals for swimming, sunbathing, and wild parties. Most visitors come to this beach for one reason: To have fun and throw wild parties.

2. Imperial Beaches

Imperial Botanical Hotel is located in the South Western part of Uganda’s capital, Kampala and features two spectacular beaches: Imperial Resort Beach and Imperial Botanical beach.

The beach is a popular spot for activities such as watersports, birdwatching with exotic birds, sunbathing, and plant spotting.

3. Munyonyo Beach

Munyonyo Beach is a popular beach resort, and one of the best beaches in Uganda.

Munyonyo Beach is a popular beach resort, graced with five-star hotels, the presence of the martyr’s shrine and impressive mansions from the 19th Century, and a working fishing port.  

The beach is also great for horse riding, fishing, paintball, long beach walks, sunbathing, and other seaside activities. Additionally, there is a tennis court and a swimming pool. Helicopter trips are available as an option.

4. Lutembe Beach

When it comes to longing for the archetypal “bird watching”, it’s impossible to walk past the scenic Lutembe Beach, as the beach borders Lutembe wetlands, a well-known bird sanctuary and home to the largest population of the white-winged terns in Uganda. 

Besides the picturesque scenery for photography, it’s one of the best beaches in Uganda because it is clean and ideal for camping and boat riding.

5. Serena Resort Beach

This exclusive beach is only accessible to guests of the Lake Victoria Serena Resort and is located on the beautiful shores of the second-largest lake in the world.

What puts this beautiful beach on our list of the best beaches in Uganda is it is so unique that it offers a Mediterranean flavour on African soil and is surrounded by lush vegetation. Guests to this paradise are frequently spotted participating in different water sports.

Due to bilharzia risk, swimming is not recommended at Serena Resort Beach. The resort has a swimming pool where guests may cool off after a hot day.

6. One Love Beach

This beautiful spot is owned by former Ugandan pop star turned politician, Bobi Wine, and is great for boat cruises, swimming, sunbathing, and lots of other fun. This secluded crescent is also a great spot for beach volleyball, exotic food, beer, and unbeatable strolls along the lakeshore.

7. Ssese Islands

The Ssese Islands, which are northwest of Lake Victoria, also serve as a “park” due to the exotic bird watching as well as spotting monkeys on the beach and occasionally seeing crocodiles and hippos. The island may be enjoyed more thanks to the biking, boating, romantic bonfires at night, and weekend parties around Kalangala Bay. Trips between the islands are also provided from Kalangala.

8. Spennah Beach

Spennah Beach Entebbe is a popular and beautiful beach on the shores of Africa´s largest lake, Lake Victoria. 

At Spennah Beach, You can have a relaxing day sunbathing, admiring the sandy beach and the clear waters of the world’s second-largest lake, and, of course, enjoying a refreshing drink at the beach bar.

The weekends at the beach are filled with different parties while weekdays are quieter. This beach is the place n if you want to mingle with the locals.

9. Aero Beach

The stunning Aero Beach in Entebbe.

Aero Beach is a beautiful beach situated between expensive resorts. It boasts a beautiful, wide and long sandy beach on the mighty Lake Victoria. Each tourist must pay an entrance fee of USh 5,000, or $1.31 at the time of this writing.

There is also Lots of good exotic food and there is a lot to see – very old planes, statues of, among others, President Museveni, the Obama family, other world leaders plus concrete wild animals.

10. Lost paradise beach

This is Uganda’s hidden gems. The beach is situated along Lake Bunyonyi in the southwest of Uganda and is reachable by motor boat in 15 minutes. It is safe to swim in the lake because it is bilharzia-free and has no hippos or crocodiles.
